Key Issues

It is very important that your child attends school every day. Absence means that important parts of the curriculum are missed and will therefore inhibit your child’s progress. Weekly attendances are collected by the Local Authority via the school’s electronic administration system and any child who does not have an explanation for their absence will be automatically given an unauthorised absence. Therefore, it is of vital importance that if your child is ill and unable to attend, you must let us know on the first day of absence by telephone and then preferably follow up with a note on their return to school. It is also essential that the school have an up to date emergency contact number for parents and carers in the event that we need to contact you about any illness and injury. Where possible, medical and dental appointments should be made outside of school hours.
Parents will not be granted any leave of absence for holidays during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances; in these cases, parents should complete a Request for Leave of Absence form at least two weeks before the anticipated start date. No authorisation will be granted retrospectively.
